How to Search             Print Page

Welcome

Searching for sources is very rarely a straight line. What is far more common is a search that entails looking in the library's catalog for books and other resources, searching article databases, and trying different terms to yield different results. Don't be discouraged if you first search returns too many or too few results. The guides at the right can help you structure a search to get the best results.

And when in doubt, ask a librarian!

Searching and Citing

  • Search the FSC Catalog
Search for books at the Gallucci-Cirio Library. If we don't have the book you are looking for, you may still be able to get it through interlibrary loan. Ask a librarian how.
  • APA Application Search Guides

Each pdf in these guides provides suggested search terms for a wide variety of psychology topics. Especially helpful are the "Selected Search Terms" in each document. If you are not sure where to start, or how to structure your search, look here first!
  • Quick Reference Guide - PsycINFO

A great step-by-step guide on how to effectively search EBSCO's PsycINFO database, most of these tips and hints can be used in all of EBSCO's databases.
  • CREDO Reference
Credo is a searchable online collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference resources.
  • Cite Your Sources in APA Style

Click on the "Documenting Sources" link in the left-hand navigation bar.
