What's here
Record Group 1 contains material by Mr. Salvatore, primarily his novels and short stories, as well as an extensive correspondence in response to his fan mail. Other materials pertain to his activities and personal correspondence.
Mr. Salvatore's first novel was Echoes of the Fourth Magic completed in 1982 but not published until 1990. His first published novel was The Crystal Shard that came out from TSR, Inc. in 1988. Based on the "Forgotten Realms" Fantasy world created by TSR. (the producers of the immensely popular Dungeons & Dragons board game) The Crystal Shard was the first book in what became "The Icewind Dale Trilogy". Other series that followed for TSR were "The Dark Elf Trilogy" and "The Cleric Quintet". It was in The Crystal Shard that Mr. Salvatore introduced the dark-elf (drow) character that to date has been his most popular creation: Drizzt Do' Urden. This fantasy hero has been featured in numerous books including the national hardcover bestsellar The Legacy. Besides his TSR publications, Mr. Salvatore has embarked on a number of series for other publishers. So far these include "The Chronicles of Ynis Aielle" (ROC Books), "The Crimson Shadow" (Warner Books), and most recently a series for Del Rey Books, who also published his novelization of the Tarzan television series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures.
